With a focus on industry response to new operational and environmental challenges for power plants, and a streamlined format, the MEGA Symposium returns in 2016 through the combined efforts of four key industry players – the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and the Air Waste Management Association (A WMA. By showcasing the latest developments and operational experience with pollution controls from fossil-fired power plants in light of the evolving environmental regulatory directions, the eleventh MEGA Symposium will update seasoned professionals and provide an excellent learning experience for early career engineers. Recognizing the maturity of control technologies for criteria pollutants and the advanced development status of controls for MATS species, the 2016 MEGA will emphasize early experience and lessons learned from initial compliance with recent environmental regulations for power plants, especially hazardous air pollutants, and their holistic management by considering the associated liquid and solid discharges. The 2016 MEGA will provide a forum for sharing approaches, successes, and challenges complying with these regulations in light of the changing mission (“flexible operations”) of fossil-fueled electric generating units, as well as technology options for compliance with the Clean Power Plan. Sessions will address advances in criteria and MATS pollutant controls as interest dictates. Attendees can receive Professional Development Hour credits. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
