Windows 7 validation activation. darkstar6631 asked on June 20, 2011. I recently purchased a used Compaq presario C700 with Windows Vista as the OEM OS. Yet found Windows 7 Ultimate Home edition 32bit as the actual OS, running. It is telling me that I have 25 days to activate Windows, as the product key that was entered was not valid. First I entered the product key on the bottom of the computer, which proved to be a Vista product key. So I then clicked on 'buy new product key online'. It took me to the following address. Error=52 OSV=6.1.7601.2.00010100.1.0.001.00.1033 GenuineInfo=4004F00C ls=1 PageName=validate, where I was informed that my Windows product was indeed genuine, and because it was, I was entitled to download Security Essentials. So I guess my question is, at the end of the 25 days, will I revert into 'limited functionallity mode', even though MS own website is telling me my product is genuine. The problem is that I bought the laptop on Craigs List, used, as is. I don't have an OS disc for Windows 7, and just want to know, that in 25 days I won't end up with a brick. What can I do. The persons you bought this from simply loaded Windows 7 on the machine without a valid license. All Windows 7 installations that come preloaded on a machine must be activated or come with proper reinstallation media, product key and certificate of authenticity.
